Why you should be worried about tomorrow

To be worried about tomorrow is a natural phenomenon for every adult except nothing is lacking — but every living being lacks something. It is wise that you prepare for tomorrow as no one can ascertain what the next minute holds, let alone the next 24 hours. Tomorrow in this context is the future and planning for it is not negotiable — from being single, married or as parents, every stage of your adult life comes with its peculiar challenges.

Children Don’t Worry

On the other hand, children are a rare breed. They are not worried about tomorrow and whatever it might hold, confident that their needs would be met by their super parents and eat until they can eat no more — who cares about constipation? Children’s priority is almost always hinged on how to be well fed and play with peers.

Children live in the moment with no recourse to eventualities; you can’t blame them as they have little or no worries. Didn’t we all used to be like children? Many of us bear scars of injuries incurred during our childhood because we thought fun had no risks. Sometimes, we wonder why we were so careless to have sustained some injuries. Some were not lucky; they live with childhood injuries that last a lifetime.

No One Knows Tomorrow

At least as mortals, no one can tell what tomorrow holds. One of the reasons Insurance products remain unpopular could be that we think we don’t need it, or nothing will happen to us. Children think this way too and it is as a result of their inability to process mature thoughts and decipher the outcome of their action. The ability to be logical and strategic at a higher level is reserved for adults.

Until a few years ago, I never thought that one day, I would be an advocate for insurance. If you are one of those adults who think insurance isn’t a priority, you should think again. Life has taught me a series of lessons to the realisation that it is better to plan for eventualities. We believe in God and His promises to protect, but we should be wise amidst the confidence in divinity. The Holy Book confirms that every day has its own trouble.

There are many reasons insurance should be part of our plans. It is disappointing that Nigerians see the statutory N5,000 third party motor insurance policy as a big deal even though there are many benefits. If that is the case, how then do you convince such Nigerians to subscribe to comprehensive insurance which covers their vehicle and the other person in case of an accident?

Regardless of your status, you should be worried about tomorrow. You should cushion yourself against surprises tomorrow may have in stock as responsibilities mount.

Ensure you are insured against unforeseen circumstances.

Funny enough it is sad truth no matter how hard we try to avoid it. Because it is indeed very necessary.
